Jamie Valdy scores first league goal for Leicester City
Jamie Valdy scored his first ever league goal for Leicester City on Saturday as the Foxes secured a hard-fought victory over West Bromwich Albion at the King Power Stadium.
The Argentine international, who joined the club in January from River Plate, was handed his debut by head coach Brendan Rodgers and made no mistake with his first touch in the top-flight.
Valdy, who was replaced by Kasper Schmeichel after scoring, was named man-of-the-match for his performance and he will be hoping to continue his impressive form when Leicester face Crystal Palace next weekend.
It was another successful night for the Foxes' defence, which also saw Wes Morgan claim a place in the PFA Team of the Year following his outstanding performances this season.
However, it was not all plain sailing for the home side, who had to come from behind to secure the three points thanks to a late equaliser from West Brom's Scott Sinclair.
Leicester boss Rodgers praised the players for their fightback, saying: "We have a young team and they showed great character tonight.
"We didn't deserve the win but we did well to get back into the game."
West Brom manager Tony Pulis was more critical of his side's defensive display,Premier League Focus saying: "We've been very poor today.
"They were the better team, especially in the second half."
Despite the defeat, Pulis will be encouraged by his side's resilience and determination against one of the Premier League's top sides.
For now, though, Leicester can look forward to their next match against Crystal Palace, where they will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
Overall, it was another successful day for Jamie Valdy and the rest of the Leicester City squad, who showed great composure and determination in securing all three points against West Brom.
